    The tomato seeds are germinated inside a climate-controlled greenhouse and allowed to reach 6-8 inches in height.

    Mechanical tomato harvesters remove the entire tomato plant from the field. Foreign materials (stems, dirt, etc.) and unripe tomatoes are sorted out and mulched back into the field, while the ripe fruit is loaded into tomato-hauling trailers.

    After a quick stop at the PTAB (Processing Tomato Advisory Board) grading station, the tomatoes are sorted according to Escalon's specifications and blended as they are conveyed into the factory.

    The tomatoes are then run through Escalon's proprietary processing systems which produce the world's finest tomato products. Escalon products are cooked after they are sealed in the can, locking in all of Mother Nature's naturally sweet flavors and fresh aromas.

    Following our "in-the-can" sterilization process, our cans are immediately cooled to stop the cooking process and protect flavor and color.

    Escalon products are stored in our warehouses without labels or cases. Escalon packages the products after we receive customer orders. This ensures that finished goods arrive to our customers in the best possible condition, while allowing Escalon to perform an additional quality inspection as the cans are packaged.
